1	Larger species, 14.0-16.0mm. General appearance forewing greyish; ground colour creamy or white, very densely irrorated dark grey *Batrachedra praeangusta*
	Mid June to early September. Forewing with plical and second discal stigmata elongate, black and pale-ringed, each often preceded by blackish dash. Antenna three-quarters of length costa.
-	Smaller species, 9.0-13.0mm. General appearance forewing ochreous yellow; ground colour at most thinly irrorated dark brown, particularly on costa and dorsum. *B. pinicolella*
	Mid June to early August. Forewing with plical and second discal stigmata black, sometimes indistinct. Antenna two thirds of length costa.
